Edmonton Oilers (+134) vs. Minnesota Wild (-162) Total: 6.5 (O -118, U -104)
Heading into the regular season, the Oilers and Wild had expectations of deep playoff runs, and we’re starting to see them play to that potential. The Oilers have now won three straight, posting a 6-4 record over their last ten, while the Wild are 5-4-1 over that same stretch. Each team has the opposite problem, with the Oilers having trouble keeping pucks out while the Wild have difficulty putting them in.
Looking at the projected goalie matchup, the visiting Oilers are expected to start Jack Campbell, while the Wild should do the same with Marc-Andre Fleury. The Oilers netminder has struggled in his first season with Edmonton, posting a 7-5 record with a .875 save percentage. At the other end, Fleury is 7-5-1 with a .901 save percentage.
It’s interesting to see the Wild listed as favorites, considering how well the Oilers are playing. Edmonton has too much value on the moneyline to pass up at +134.
Best Bet: Oilers moneyline (+134)
Even though the Wild haven’t been scoring at a high clip, sitting 22nd in the league in goals per game, there have been signs of a breakout. Over their last five games, they’ve scored fewer than three goals once, while the Oilers have scored at the eighth-highest mark in the NHL. With Edmonton’s struggles in the net, it’s not hard to imagine a back-and-forth offensive affair tonight. The total is currently set at 6.5, with the over being priced at an appetizing number of -118.
Best Bet: Over 6.5 (-118)
Whenever the Edmonton Oilers play, there’s always a good reason to target one of their superstars to score. Connor McDavid is still the most dominant force in the league, already tallying 18 goals and 23 assists and sitting with the second-highest goal total. He’s made a point to score more goals this season, putting himself in the Rocket Richard debate. Don’t look away from his plus-money price tag to score tonight at +100.
Best Prop: Connor McDavid to Record Over 0.5 Goals (+100)
